🤖 Adaptive AI Test

Computerised adaptive testing, UCAT-style: you start at entry level and the engine watches every answer. Get it right → harder question. Slip up → it holds you at par, never below official UCAT standard. Extraordinary streak → elite difficulty, harder than the real exam. At the end, AI rates you against the official standard and builds your improvement plan.

❓ What is an adaptive test?

A normal test gives everyone the same questions. An adaptive test is different for every student — the difficulty changes question by question based on how YOU are doing. It works like a smart tutor: it finds the exact level where you start to struggle, keeps you practising right at that edge (where learning happens fastest), and stretches you beyond it when you're ready. That means no wasted time on questions that are too easy, and no confidence-crushing walls of questions that are too hard.

📶 How the difficulty ladder works

LEVEL 2

100 timed practice tests

Each test is a slice of the real UCAT ANZ in the official order: a Verbal Reasoning passage with 4 linked questions (True/False/Can't tell and best-supported items) → 4 Decision Making questions drawn from the official families (syllogisms, logic puzzles, recognising assumptions, interpreting information incl. Venn diagrams, probability) → a Quantitative Reasoning data set with 4 linked questions and five answer options → a Situational Judgement scenario with 4 linked items (appropriateness, importance, most/least appropriate). Timed at the official per-question pace (10:32 for 16 questions), auto-marked with 300–900 scaled scores per subtest (SJT also 300–900, as reported in ANZ), and every answer explained with a diagram. All questions are original. 🎁 Test 1 is free as a demo — Tests 2–100 unlock with any package. Completed tests turn green with your best score.

🎯 Our teaching point: every single question is fully explained — with a diagram. Why the correct answer is right, why each wrong option is a trap, and a visual of the method: Venn diagrams, probability trees, logic grids and if→then maps for DM; bar models, formula triangles, calculation chains and number lines for QR; evidence maps for VR; the priority ladder for SJT. You never just see "A" — you learn how to catch it next time.

🧠 Decision Making — logic toolkit UPDATED

Question typeToolGolden rule
SyllogismsDraw 2–3 circles (Venn)"All A are B" ≠ "all B are A" — arrows run one way
Venn diagram countingFill the overlap FIRST, work outwardsThe overlap is counted in BOTH circles — subtract it once
"Must be true"Try to BREAK each optionOne counter-example kills an option; "could be true" is a trap
Ordering / sequencingWrite positions 1–5, slot fixed clues first"Immediately before/after" = glued pair — treat as one block
Inclusion–exclusionA + B − Both = Total − NeitherWrite the equation before looking at options
ProbabilityFractions, reduce at the endCheck: WITH or WITHOUT replacement? Changes the denominator
If → then logicModus ponens only: condition met → result followsResult happening does NOT prove the condition (affirming the consequent trap)
Strongest argumentRelevance + scope testPick the option that attacks the CONCLUSION directly, not a side detail
Assumption questionsNegation test: flip it — does the argument collapse? If the argument survives the negation, it's not the assumption

⭕ Venn diagrams — how to analyse them (step by step)

Venn questions give you overlapping groups (e.g. patients with symptom A, symptom B, both, neither). The method never changes:

StepWhat to doWorked example — 40 patients, 25 fever, 18 cough, 9 both
1 · Identify regionsEvery Venn has 4 regions: A only · B only · Both · NeitherFever only · Cough only · Both · Neither
2 · Fill the overlap first"Both" goes in the middle — everything else is built from itBoth = 9
3 · Work outwardsA only = A − BothFever only = 25 − 9 = 16 · Cough only = 18 − 9 = 9
4 · Find NeitherNeither = Total − (A only + B only + Both)40 − (16 + 9 + 9) = 6
5 · Answer from regionsRead the question: "only A" ≠ "A" (which includes the overlap)"Fever but no cough" = 16, not 25

⚠️ The three Venn traps: ① forgetting the overlap is inside both totals, ② answering "A only" when asked "A", ③ for 3-circle Venns: A+B+C − AB − AC − BC + ABC = Total − Neither — the centre gets added back.

A only Both B only A (total) B (total) Neither = outside both circles ABC A B C Centre is subtracted 3× — add it back once

📌 Syllogism Venns: "All surgeons are doctors" = surgeon circle fully inside doctor circle. "Some doctors are surgeons" = overlap region only. Draw the statement, then test each conclusion against YOUR drawing — not your intuition.

🗣 Verbal Reasoning — the rules of the game

AnswerChoose it when…Trap to avoid
TrueThe passage says it directly or it logically must followNeeding two assumptions to get there = not True
FalseThe passage contradicts it — even softly ("may not persist" kills "guaranteed")"False" doesn't require the words "this is wrong" — contradiction is enough
Can't TellAny new claim: cause, comparison, scope or future the text never coversYour outside knowledge is ALWAYS wrong to use
📌 Method: stem first → keyword scan → judge the sentence, not the topic. Absolute words ("all", "never", "proven") are alarm bells.
SkillTechniqueWhy it works
Keyword scanningPick the most UNUSUAL word in the stem, scan for it (and synonyms)Proper nouns/numbers jump off the page; common words hide
Synonym radarPassage rarely repeats the stem's exact words — expect paraphrase"Rapid" in stem → "swift/accelerated" in text
Scope checkCompare SCOPE: stem broader/narrower than passage? → Can't Tell"All antibiotics" vs "penicillin" — different claims
Time checkPassage past tense, stem future prediction → Can't TellText never licenses predictions unless it says so
Skim readingFirst sentence of each paragraph = map of the passage (10 seconds)Knowing WHERE info lives beats reading everything
29-second pace44 Q in 21 min — never re-read the whole passageTwo passes max: scan → judge → move

🤝 Situational Judgement — the priority ladder

RankPrincipleBeats…
1Patient safetyEverything — hierarchy, friendship, convenience
2Honesty & confidentialityPoliteness, loyalty to colleagues, "no harm done"
3Consent & patient autonomyFamily wishes, "doctor knows best"
4Professional boundariesBeing helpful (badges, social media, gifts)
5Team harmonyNever first — harmony fixes come after safety
📌 Default correct move: private, supportive conversation first → escalate only if it continues. Near-misses get reported even when nobody was harmed.
ScenarioCorrect instinctTrap answer
Confidentiality exceptionsBreak it ONLY for serious risk of harm, abuse, or court orderTelling family "to be kind" without consent
Capacity & consentAssume capacity until assessed; patients may refuse treatment"Family decides" for a competent adult
Colleague impaired (drugs/alcohol)Patient safety now → senior involvement, not silent loyaltyCovering for them / confronting publicly
Social mediaNever post identifiable patient info — even "de-identified""It's a private account" is still a breach
Cheating witnessedReport through proper channels — integrity is non-negotiable"Not my business" or confronting alone
Appropriateness scaleRate the ACTION, not the person: very appropriate ↔ very inappropriateChoosing mid-options to seem balanced
Importance scaleHow much does this factor matter to the DECISION?Rating by emotional weight instead of relevance

Common questions

Quick answers about the UCAT ANZ and our prep.

What is the UCAT ANZ?

The University Clinical Aptitude Test (ANZ) is the admissions test used by most medical and dental schools in Australia and New Zealand. It is a 2-hour computer-based exam sat at Pearson VUE centres, usually in July–August.

Is Abstract Reasoning still in the UCAT?

No — Abstract Reasoning was withdrawn from the UCAT from 2025. The exam now has four subtests: Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Reasoning and Situational Judgement.

How is the UCAT scored?

Each cognitive subtest (VR, DM, QR) is scaled to 300–900, giving a cognitive total of 900–2700. In the ANZ version, Situational Judgement is also scaled 300–900 and reported separately (the UK test reports SJT as bands). Our timed tests simulate this scaling.

When should I start preparing?

Most successful candidates practise consistently for 4–8 weeks. Short daily timed sets beat occasional cramming — the dashboard above is built for exactly that.
